Back in 2011, we set up our first Adult Ladies team in O’Tooles, and spent our first season playing in Division 5A. Next year, our 4th year competing at adult level, we will be playing in Division 3.
Every year since 2011 the team has won at least 2 trophies, and this year was no different.
We played in Div. 4 league and cup, and in the B championship, having won the D & C in the previous 2 season.
We reached the B Championship final, our third championship final in a row, and were really unlucky to lose by a point to a really strong St Jude’s team, who finished 2nd in Division 3 and had lost the previous 3 B Championship finals.
We lost 1 cup match during the year, but still finished top of the group, and went on to beat our main rivals this year, Fingallians, in the cup semi-final.
We played St Brigids in the cup final, and what was one of the best displays of football I have ever witnessed, we won our 2 cup in 3 years. Score Finished – 5.14 to 3.04
We lost one game in the league this year, which was the girls first defeat in 18 months in any competition ( the girls have only lost 4 games in 2 years) which meant ourselves and Fingallians finished joint top of the league and a league final was played to decide the league winners.
Anyone who came to watch the league final, played in O’Tooles on the 15th of November, would have seen what an amazing team we have in this club. Some of the skill levels of our players would rival any team in Dublin, and the football they played that night, was simply amazing.
We blew Fingallians away, winning 4.16 to 3.02 and claimed our 2nd league title in 3 years, and our 3rd consecutive promotion.
Any club member who has not watch a ladies match in the club, should make it their business to watch one next season, as this team, along with some very talented under age players yet to play adult football, play some amazing football.
