Hi folks,

A couple of items the club would like to update you on;

First and foremost, well done to each and every one of our mentors and helpers the past few weeks getting the teams back out on the pitch.

You willingly volunteer your time to the club and on behalf of the Management Committee I want to say thanks and wish you every success in the coming weeks as games get going again.

We’ve had a terrific response so far on our return to play across all grades and look forward to seeing everybody back out playing games in the coming weeks.

Can we please keep pushing the memberships and registrations, this income is the lifeblood of the club right now and with the season about to commence so comes the bills from the county board and the other affiliates.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous work our GPO Dave Needham has put into the club over the past number of years. Dave will be leaving us at the end of this month. He has been a great servant to the club and I know I speak for all members and friends in wishing him every success going forward. We are working with the county board on the appointment of a new GPO in the club and intend to have him or her in place by the start of the next school term.

The club will be doing Summer camps this year and we hope to have confirmed dates early next week with the full schedule to follow. They will be internal club camps, we will not be running Cul Camps this summer.

The committee recently met and ratified a decision to move our kit supplies back to O’Neills. A dedicated club page will be set up on their website and it’s anticipated this will be up and running by September.

As some of you are aware a new coaching and games development committee has been set up to structure the coaching aspect throughout the club. This is set up under the guidence of Graham Dinh and will work in collaboration with the Juvenile committee and the GPO. A lot of preparatory work has going into this new venture and the committee met for the first time last week. It is our intention that this drive will lift many aspects throughout the club in terms of the quality of our coaching and ultimately our on field performance. I know I can count on your continued support to get behind and back this important and vital initiative for our club.

Special thanks to our President Brendan O Donnell for all the effort and hard work recently for the GAA National Draw.

We are currently trialing a new membership database system through Clubforce. If this proves successful the club will be moving across to this platform later this year.

It is anticipated the members bar and lounge will reopen once indoor hospitality recommences and we’ll keep you posted as this progresses.

Great to see Ann Walsh settle in so comfortably to her new role at the club.

Once again good luck when we get back playing.

Our club is nearly 125 years old, is steeped in a proud and illustrious history virtually unmatched by anybody else in the country.

We should never forget that – we wear the jersey with the respect and pride it deserves and encourage our teams to do so.

It’s been an extremely tough year off the field for everyone, let’s make the sporting memories from 2021 memorable for all the right reasons.

Regards

Anthony Cunningham
