On Friday the 23rd of August, Erins Isle hosted their annual under 9’s
Gaelic Football Blitz. Four Clubs took part, Erins Isle, O’Tooles,
Whitehall Colmcille and St.Oliver Plunketts. This competition was well
organised with great facilities. The pitches were great!
This was a great opportunity to clear away any cobwebs that had gathered
over the summer. Our gracious hosts provided the setting that would
initiate the start of the GAA season after a long wonderful summer.
Our boys faired well, we evenly distributed into two teams, the teams were
not streamed. Team A battled hard, their three games were contested well,
the lads showed great determination whilst displaying great skills at
times, but our opposition proved too strong for us in the end as Plunketts
took the cup.
Team B were up against it from the start, but showed their metal and
determination to establish themselves as the contenders for the shield. We
had close games against Plunkett’s, and Whitehall Colmcille’s but managed
to put them at bay.
In our final game against Erins Isle, we were given a much more different
task. We went behind early in the game but showed great character and
clawed back two points before half time. The second half would be a

I want to take this opportunity to commend our hosts Erins Isle who
provided the medals, refreshments and goodie bags for all the kids. Also,
