What a great day and a tremendous success for O’Toole’s on Saturday 5th. From our tiny nursery children to our adult guys & gals (who own a few nursery kids) every team joined in and had a ball participating in our ‘Club Marathon’ relay.

Because of Covid restrictions each team had to wait until the preceding team left the pitch. Therefore, we couldn’t compete for the fastest time. However, we are thrilled to be the FIRST club to run 50km.

Such was the turnout of players supporting this part of our fundraising event. The actual marathon time was a super 2hrs, 38mins, 29secs, which was a stupendous time. Well done to all participants

The day, itself comprised of so many fun things. We had Christmas trees for sale (there are a few left
on sale this week. For times keep your eye on our website, Twitter, Facebook).

There were goodies and gadgets for sale, including food for the reindeers and plates to put Santa’s snacks on. All our Club gear from calendars, hats, tracksuits, tops, socks, hoodies, snoods & bags were on offer. There are a couple of calendars left if you want to give a special gift to someone. There were also pop-up stalls with An Garda Siochana and Farrell hurls in attendance.

We are extremely grateful to members of An Garda Siochana, who went out to Dublin airport to collect the Big man himself, ‘Santa Claus’ and deliver him to us, so he could meet all our boys and girls. The youngsters were ecstatic to see him here. He had a message to all the children in Ireland……wash your hands and keep a tissue in your pocket in case you need to cough or sneeze.

There was an ocean of delicious hot and cold food and beverages for sale, including soup, paninis, and mouth-watering roast ham. It was all courtesy of Brownes restaurant in Sandymount. There were lots of prizes to win in our raffle and a ‘Guess how many Sliotars’ game. There was fun for everyone, of all ages to be had on the day.

Our all-weather pitch was converted into a winter wonderland of activity for the younger members. Santa’s elves and his helpers played games and gave fantastic sleigh rides. They were also on hand when Santa arrived and gave a little gift to all the children that went to see him.

This fabulous day was thanks to O’Toole’s fundraising team and volunteers. The winter wonderland was the brainchild of Chris. So, a big THANKS to him, his crew and everyone involved on the day. We would like to thank all those that donated prizes for our raffle (a full list will be published later).
