On Sunday morning our U15 footballers travelled across the Liffey to play
Crumlin Robert Emmets in the quarter-final of the shield.
As O’Toole’s don’t actually have a team that competes at U15 level on a
week to week basis, the team we sent was made up of eligible players from
our U14 & U16 squads.
We started out strong and we soon had a four point lead. However
Crumlin/Robert Emmets were awarded a penalty, that they finished well, to
reduce the lead to the minimum. Our lads regrouped, and it wasn’t long
before we scored a goal, followed by a couple of quick points. This meant
that O’Toole’s had a seven point lead at the break.
As the 2nd half progressed, and with our lads becoming more familial with
each other, they began to dominate the game. This was helped by the strong
spine of the ‘older’ U15 lads, complimented with the ‘younger’ lads from
the U14 squad, who were all getting to grips with the game plan that was
asked of them. This half produced some fine teamwork, that resulted in
lovely point taking. The result was put beyond doubt when O’Toole’s scored
a second goal, followed by a flurry of unanswered points, to put them well
ahead on the score board.
The final score was O’Toole’s 2-15 to Crumlin Robert Emmets 1-04
Leon Deans, Paddy Smith, Luke Webster and ‘man of the match’ Conn Rock,
were all in great form . .
A big ‘Thank You’ to all the parents who came to support. We hope to see
you again for the semi-final
