We knew we faced a tough battle as we travelled to the Naul to face St Peters in this top of the table clash in our football league.Yet again we were missing some key players for various reasons – meaning others got the opportunity to contribute. From the start it was clear it would be a close affair as every attack produced scores for both teams. The home side used an extra defender working the ball out the field aiming to hit their very strong full forward – which was proving to be successful. We ran at their backline constantly resulting in some fine scores.Halftime saw us up by 4pts.We asked for more tracking & tackling for the next 30mins but St Peters came out flying & soon had the scoreline all square. From this point on our lads showed great attitude all over the pitch and despite 2 dubious decisions (penalty to Peters & red card for O Tooles) we pushed on hitting some great scores mainly from breakaways. Our defence were fantastic keeping St Peters at bay.At the final whistle we had won by 10pts – after a very tough , physical game.Well done to all the lads for a great effort.
