We faced Round Towers Clondalkin at home for our final match before the Summer break. As throw in approached the weather was fine , pitch in perfect nick and all players ready for action. A win would keep us top of the table in a very competitive league.
We were on top from the start and a fortuitous goal set us on our way. We soon added another couple of goals before Towers got to grips with the game. They enjoyed a good spell of possession midway through the half which resulted in some good scores to keep them in the game.As the half progressed we got back on top with some great teamwork delivering more scores. Our attitude and workrate was impressive – with and without the ball. The fine weather didnt last – we were all soaked following a downpour that started before the break.
Towers started the 2nd half better than us scoring first – but we soon got going and pushed on with some well taken scores – both goals & points. Towers were restricted to a few breakaways but our defence were solid moving the ball into our half forwards & keeping the Towers backline under pressure. We finished the game strongly and ran out deserved winners. Well done to everyone involved – a really good performance.
