A dirty wet Wednesday night in Killinarden, Tallaght was the venue for our first championship match of the season. And boy what a game! Having been here two weeks ago and lost in the league by 7 we knew what we where facing.

1st Half

The ball was thrown in and the action was end to end – never stopped! It was the toughest game I’ve witnessed in ladies football. At half time O’Tooles where 4 points ahead after having a hill advantage.

2nd Half

10 minutes into the second half it was level and was tit for tat right thru. O’Tooles keeper pulled off a great save with 2 minutes to go and there was some serious nail biting on the line. From the kick out O’Tooles held possession and worked the ball up the pitch but where met by a wall of red jerseys.

But a brilliant defense splitting pass from Rachel Douglas to Katie Maher and a cracking shot was met by a cracking save but Lyndsey Brown was there to fire in the rebound and give us a 3 point lead with the 60 mins up.

From the kick out Kate Fitz pulled the ball from the sky a fast ball into Marzy and in the words of Jurgen Klopp …

BOOM!

6 point win and it’s back across the Liffey we went with broad smiles on our faces. We play Castle knock next Wednesday at home at 7.30 and if you can come out and support the girls it will be much appreciated and you won’t be disappointed.
