Last weekend saw our 1916 centenary commemorations conclude with a hugely
successful staging of our play, ‘The Larriers Rising’ in the Sean O’Casey
theatre on Thursday and Friday nights and our march from Croke Park to St
Laurence O’Toole Church on Saturday evening. A big thank you to the SOCT
staff, the Donahies School students, O’Toole’s actors and everyone who took
part for making ‘The Larriers Rising’ a unique and special production. Our
Saturday evening march brought us back to our roots and we felt very proud
to revisit and remember our past. A special thank you to the North Wall
area residents, St Laurence O’Toole PP, Sheriff Youth Centre, St Joseph
Pipe Band, The Irish Volunteer Group, An Garda Siochana, the helpers who
accompanied our juvenile teams and to everyone who marched and those who
supported us along the way. This was a special evening and we were proud to
represent St Laurence O’Toole GAA Club. Thank you to our organising
committee, volunteers, bar staff, groundsmen and to everyone who took part
for their work in bringing together the events of the past two weekends.
Performance of the weekend on the playing fields goes to U14 hurlers who
participated in Féile on Saturday in Blunden Drive and qualified for the
final in Blakestown Road on Sunday. A great display saw them beat a gallant
St Marks thus winning the Div 4 Féile. Well done to the Rock brothers Fionn
&Conn, Cian McGovern, Luke Fennelly, Aaron O’Neill, Conor Cullen, Jamie
Breen, the team and especially and management.
There were good league wins for our U16 and minor hurlers over the weekend.
Man of the match for our minors was Leo Lacey.
