There were great home wins with superb performances for our senior and
junior footballers in their respective league games over the weekend
proving that practice makes perfect. Our U16 hurlers demonstrated their
abundant skills in their league home win on Saturday while our U14 hurlers
played away in their terrific league win. It was hard luck for our brave
U14 girls that participated in Féile on Saturday. Ashling & Fiona’s young
team played great football and although they had their win, it wasn’t
enough to send them through to the next stage., O’Toole’s are bringing
Camogie back to Blunden Drive. This Thursday at 7pm in the club is the
launch for girls aged 8 to 10yrs. There was no winner of our Club Lotto.
The numbers were 7, 14, 21, 22. Jackpot this week €1,600.
Our centenary commemoration celebrations get under way this weekend
starting at 7:45pm on Friday evening with a ‘Historic talk on O’Toole’s
involvement in 1916’ by our very own ‘Jimmy Wren’ and at 9:15 there’s the
unveiling of the Jack Carey medal collection.
On Saturday, Dublin’s Lord Mayor, Críona Ní Dhálaigh will officiate our
‘Irish Volunteers Exhibition’ day at 10:15am. This exhibition is highly
recommended for anyone that has a sense of Ireland. It runs from 10:15 to
5:30pm
At 8:30pm a special ‘Commemorative’ plaque to mark the 100th anniversary of
the 1916 Rising and to honour the 80 plus members of O’Toole’s who took
part will be unveiled. This will be followed by music entertainment with
‘Carl Phillips’
On Sunday all roads lead to Blunden Drive for our momentous match between a
Cumann Uí Thuathail team and an Āth Cliath selection made up of clubs still
in existence since pre-1916. This team will be managed by the current
Dublin manager ‘Jim Gavin’. After the match presentations there will be the
best ballad session ever.
