Young actors and actresses from The Donahes with the artistic director from
the Sean O’Casey Theatre in East Wall rehearsing in the clubhouse this
afternoon for our 1916 commemorative play “The ‘Larriers’ Rising”. The
rehearsal was filmed by a TG4 crew and hopefully segments of it will be
shown on TG4’s Duiche programme on Sunday 4th April at 7.30pm.

“The ‘Larriers’ Rising” is a bespoke once-off play devised specially for
the O’Tooles 1916 commemorative celebrations using segments of some of Sean
O’Casey’s plays, a roll call of the 80 plus O’Tooles members who took part
in the rising, interspersed with music and song of the period performed by
members of the Sean O’Casey Theatre group and members of O’Tooles club, to
a background of images before, during and after the Rising. This event
promises to be an unforgettable experience!

The play will be performed on Thursday 14th and Fri 15th April and tickets
will go on sale shortly at €10.00 each. As the theatre holds 150 people it
is expected that tickets will sell quickly, but club members can pre-order
now by contacting the club to pre-purchase tickets.
