One hundred years ago, over 80 members of O’Tooles GAA club took part in
the Easter Rising 1916, and in a few short weeks the club will run a series
of events to commemorate these brave men and women. A sub committee within
the club has put together an ambitious programme of
events including a talk, a commemorative match, a play and a march through
St Laurence O’Toole Parish in East Wall – the birthplace of the club – to
honour these our fellow club men and women (two of whom were Tom Clarke and
Sean Mac Diarmada, signatories of the proclamation, who were executed after
the Rising).

An "Official Programme" will be available shortly but in the meantime
details, of all the events planned are included in the current issue of
Ayrwaves which will be delivered to every house in the Ayrfield Parish in
the coming days.
