O’Tooles JNR hurlers progressed to the CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL on Sept 12th in Parnell park after making hard work of a plucky & tactical Ballinteer St Johns in Blunden Drive this morning.
BSJ started the game the better team and played a sweeper in the back line behind their centre back, this impeded the O’Tooles forwards & subsequently it wasn’t until the 17th minute that Rasher Horgan hit O’Tooles first score of the game from a free.
The first half was all about the O’Tooles backs & midfield and Sean Concrete Leonard lead the defensive charge with able captains and lieutenants in the likes of Ciaran The Scientist Gettings, Ryan Bigman Bergin, Brian Og Hardman Carton & the yellow boots of Dave Babyface Mooney keeping their hopes & dreams alive. In fact if Sean Leonard is looking to leave the DFB any time soon , there is a job awaiting in Roadstone after some of the hits he put intoday.
Bernard Barreller Farrell laid it on the table to his charges at halftime with both sides level at 4 points a piece it was all to play for. Dean The Duck Farrell took this to heart and pinged ball after ball to the waiting spare man that was Leonard or long into the hands of Mick The Body Healy and Rasher Horgan resulting in the one and Only goal of the game & O’Tooles began to tick like clock work but BSJ replied in adding another sweeper into the backs however baldy Donohoe & Luke Madigan Myers started to put the yards in opening up space to run the BSJ backs into the corners.
Barrellers had a strong sideline to make some telling substitutes which showed the strength in depth of this outfit. O’Tooles finished stronger and Horgan added 3 unanswered points letting them run out winners in a real test of clash of the ash.
Next day out is a final date with St Brigids in the surrounds of Parnell Park
