We hosted the hurling wall competition for the fifth year in a row this
year and yet again it was a great success.
Thirteen under 10s and fourteen under 12s battled it out for over an hour
to see who would be crowned ‘King of the Wall’.
As always the players coming in first, second and third received hurleys
from kearneyhurleys.com. Pat Kearney has sponsored the competition since
day one and the club is very grateful to Pat for the beautiful sticks.
This year the under 10 winner was Joey Kavanagh from the Na Fianna Club
with Adam Nagle from Castkeknock coming second and Conor Dixon from Faughs
coming third. It is worth mentioning that Conor had to battle it out in a
playoff against Conor Roche from Castkeknock for the third place position.
The 12 winner was Thomas Hurley from the Raheny Club. I can only describe
Thomas as a machine. An adult hurler would struggle to get the 485 points
he racked up. In second place was Conor Baldwin, also from the Rahney Club
and third place was Luke Whealan from Skerries Harps.
Many thanks to all the players for sticking out the cold and their parents
/mentors for bringing them across. Finally thanks to Ray, Andy and John for
running the show.
Good Friday falls on the 25th of March next year so less than a year to go.
I better get started!
