Following a recent partnership between Crown Paints and O’Toole’s GAA Club the clubs premises on Blunden Drive have been completely redecorated. With the recent economic downturn a number of players and club members have been laid off or are finding it difficult to get regular work. The club was due for a facelift and it was decided to tap into the skills of members who were out of work and willing to give some of their time to decorate the clubhouse rather than hiring a contractor.

The club then approached Crown Paints and met Padraic Timlin, Distribution Director and Joe Clarke, Coolock Store Manager to seek their support. The club were delighted when Crown Paints agreed to sponsor the paints and materials required for the decoration to match the voluntary contribution of the club members. The work was carried out during November 2009 with guidance from the Crown Paints team. The clubhouse had a full facelift and looked splendid for the holiday period.

O’Toole’s Chairman, Noel Kelly expressed the clubs gratitude to Padraic, Joe and all the team in Crown for their sponsorship and said “it was a real example of the Corporate and Community sectors working effectively together. He especially complemented Crown Paints for their generosity in the current climate when most sponsors are pulling back from community sponsorship. ”. Noel also asked O’Toole’s members to acknowledge Crown’s sponsorship by shopping in Crown’s Stores when they are next decorating at home.

Commenting on the initiative Padraic Timlin of Crown said “Crown are very pleased to be able to support the redecoration of O’Toole’s GAA Club, especially in the current environment”
